Responsible Manufacturing

As a responsible manufacturer, we care about the impact our products have on the environment. We’re passionate about working with other responsible suppliers to minimise our environmental impact and safeguard the future of the planet.

Hurst Plastics Environmental Policy

One of the ways we do this is through continued investment into an ambitious environmental policy. This aims to reduce our environmental impact as far as practically possible, by minimising waste sent to landfill and successfully recycling our waste into new and useful products.

We are committed to providing a quality of service that ensures a safe and healthy workplace and minimises our environmental impact. Operating in compliance with relevant environmental legislation, using pollution prevention and environmental best practices in line with our commitment to working towards BS8555:2016 and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems helps us achieve this.

The Hurst team works together in an environmentally responsible manner to promote environmental awareness internally. We constantly monitor our energy usage and drive towards minimising landfill waste, using KPIs to reduce our impact on the environment.

Hurst Plastics promote the efficient use of materials and resources throughout our facility including water, electricity and raw materials – particularly those that are non-renewable. We have worked to minimise the consumption of materials such as energy, fuel and paper where possible.

We are against the unnecessary use of hazardous materials and products and take reasonable steps to protect our people and the environment in which they interact when used, stored and disposed of. When required by legislation or where significant health, safety or environmental hazards exists, we implement appropriate arrangements to protect our workforce and the environment.

We communicate our environmental commitment to our people, customers and suppliers. We only work with suppliers who share our passion for environmentally practices by purchasing environmentally responsible products.

We’re committed to purchasing recyclable products and environmentally friendly materials as appropriate, economical and suitable to our business needs. By working closely with our chosen waste providers, we will continue to reduce our impact on the environment through re-use and recycling.

As the business continues to grow, we remain absolutely committed to improving our environmental objectives and KPI performance aspects and impacts of activities by periodically reviewing our environmental policy in light of our current and planned future activities, and with reference to the Environment Protection Act (1990).
