Composite Fire Door Demand Up

Hurst Doors has reported a significant increase in demand for its range of FD30s composite fire doors as the market regains momentum.

With triple certification for Fire, Smoke and Security and tested to BS EN1634 and PAS24, Hurst’s Fire Door Range achieves an average resistance time of 44-minutes – 50% longer than the FD30 standard requirement.

Mark Atkinson, Sales Director, Hurst, said that renewed confidence in the revised testing regime post-Grenfell was translating into a growing number of enquiries from housing associations, local authorities and new build specialists.

“We’ve seen a significant increase in demand for our composite fire doors over the past six months”, Mark said.

He continued: “It reflects renewed confidence in the revised test regime, which is driving increased specification while we expect this demand to further increase going forward into 2024.”

Hurst’s FD30s fire door range is one of the most highly tested in the UK, going through rigorous bi-directional testing meeting and exceeding the EN1634 standard.

UKCA accredited external fire door options include a standard or integrated fanlight frame, whilst internal fire doors are also available with a separate fanlight and or sidelight frame.

“It’s very important that as an industry we move forward responsibly”, continued Mark, “The more rigorous testing regime since 2018 and move to EN1634 has, however, gone a significant way to restoring confidence in composite fire door systems, and that is creating new areas of opportunity.

“That is driving significant new areas of opportunity for the whole supply chain.”
