Production Manager Role
Reporting to the Head of Composite Production, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Composite Door production department, ensuring production targets, quality standards and delivery commitments are consistently achieved.
You will lead and develop production teams, coordinate labour and material resources, and work closely with planning, purchasing and quality teams to ensure production runs efficiently and customer delivery commitments are achieved.
You will lead a team responsible for the manufacture of composite door assemblies, ensuring output, quality and delivery performance meet the demands of a busy nationwide customer base.
This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on operational performance while helping shape the future development of the department and its people.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operational Performance
- Lead daily production activities to achieve output, quality and delivery targets.
- Ensure customer orders are manufactured and delivered in line with agreed schedules.
- Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions where required.
- Maximise the effective use of labour, machinery and materials.
- Manage departmental costs in line with agreed budgets.
- Work closely with planning and procurement teams to ensure materials are available when required and production schedules are maintained.
- Monitor and improve key performance measures including output, efficiency, quality, waste and OTIF performance.
People Leadership
- Lead, motivate and develop production teams to achieve high levels of performance.
- Create a positive and accountable working environment.
- Manage attendance, performance and conduct in line with company policies.
- Identify training and development needs across the department.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and induction of new employees.
- Develop team capability and succession plans.
- Set clear expectations around performance, behaviours and workplace standards.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure products are manufactured to specification and customer requirements.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards and company procedures.
- Promote a right-first-time approach to manufacturing.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction and process efficiency.
- Support lean manufacturing activities and embed continuous improvement principles across the department.
- Use operational data to identify opportunities for improvement and drive performance.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong health and safety culture across the department.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
- Ensure safe working practices are consistently followed.
- Maintain a safe, organised and productive working environment.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with planning, purchasing, quality and other production departments to ensure the smooth flow of materials and customer orders through the business.
- Communicate operational objectives, priorities and performance expectations clearly to your team.
- Resolve production issues quickly and effectively, working collaboratively across departments.
- Provide regular updates on departmental performance and improvement initiatives.
- Communicate company objectives and business priorities effectively across the department.

What We’re Looking For
Essential Experience
- Proven experience in a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager or similar leadership role.
- Experience managing teams within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of production planning, operational performance and people management.
- Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and process improvements.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within manufacturing.
- Experience developing, coaching and managing teams.
Desirable
- Experience within composite door, fenestration, glazing, joinery or building products manufacturing.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, 5S and waste reduction techniques.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 quality systems.
